We are so very happy to have Gypsy Card Reader Meridith in our shop on Saturday, June 3rd from noon through 4 PM. Meridith has been a card reader for 20+ years, being drawn to Tarot at an early age. Later in life, she turned to Gypsy readings, a simpler and uncomplicated form of divination that creates readings that are more accessible to today's modern world. The cards create a life map or "snapshot" of what is happening in the present and the possible outcomes for the future if a specific path is ignored or followed. Meridith channels the energy from the client and it is reflected in the cards. The picture they show are applied not only in the crucial life event problem but also in the everyday smaller issues that are equally important. Although Meridith is first-generation born in America, her background is Mediterranean European with a ribbon of Romanian blood that led her to Transylvania where she visited her ancestors back in the 1980's. That reconnection with the ancient land steeped in mystical history made her appreciate more the powerful forces of the Universe that guide our destiny. Meridith's readings are 30-minutes with a donation of $30.00 per session. Please contact the shop to book your appointment.
Robert Moyer will be in the shop on Saturday, June 10th from 12 PM through 4 PM offering his intuitive Tarot Readings Palm Readings, and Rune Castings. West Reading's 23rd annual "Art on the Avenue" celebration is being held Saturday, June 17th from 11 AM to 6 PM. Held rain or shine, this premier family festival features fine arts and crafts made by local artisans. Each year, thousands of people are drawn to Penn Avenue as the event continues to grow. Celtic Myth and Moonlight is so happy to host photographer Dave Chabinec as our artist this year, and hope you will stop by to view his wonderful work! Here are some words by our artist about his work.....
A photograph is a moment frozen in time, the spirit captured and preserved. You could say my interest in photography started one day thirty five years ago when I came home from work to be surprised by my wife and lifelong friend Carol with plane tickets for a week vacation in Detroit. (yes, Detroit). Walking around the deep streets is when I realized all these slices of life had to be recorded. After that, my Canon A1 accompanied us everywhere, from the debauchery of Times Square, the quiet of a deep forest, or the frantic energy of a cross-country car trip.
Been all 'round this world. I entered a new phase as my professional career as an electrical engineer in telephone gave me a path for extensive international travel. With a little planning, some personal expenditures and a little lost sleep, I was able to extend this travel beyond the normal business routine. How do you recount these amazing travels in a few lines, you don't. I will mention in passing that seeing Mainland China prior to its Modernization/Westernization, and the remnants of the Mao era was spectacular. Beyond the usual tourist traps, the intensity of the streets, the overwhelming friendly and curious nature of the people, their culture and spirit was remarkable. You can't put into words the thoughts you have as you walk by people that may have never seen a tall Caucasian, the curious intensity of their stare and the warming smiles when you look back to them.
Ireland. My daughter attended part of high school and college in Ireland. During this period I made the switch from film to digital (film is something I dearly miss). This of course led to many trips where we were able to explore the castles and the mystical landscapes. Dublin and the eastern part of the island is basically an extension of Europe. Moving west you can still feel the lore and mythology, The Tuatha De Danann and Fir Bolg, the elves hiding in the earth, the fairies in the trees.
Life Changing. While not overwhelming into a formal religion by any means, a recent trip took me to Israel. I took several days to stay in The Holy City of Jerusalem. Simply stated, whether Catholic, Jewish, Muslim or Pagan, it is life changing. To stand on Mt. Moriah, a place where the veil between worlds is thin, and to reflect on the sacredness and the sadness, the adoration and human struggle, leaves one with an indelible effect on the mundane and spiritual.
I have regular displays in Celtic Myth and Moonlight where I focus on images of Ireland and Trees. I am looking forward to "Art on the Avenue" where I will have a broader display of topics. I hope you can stop by to take a look and to chat.
