Gypsy Card Reader Meridith

We are so very happy to have Gypsy Card Reader Meridith in our shop.  Meridith has been a card reader for 20+ years, being drawn to Tarot at an early age.  Later in life, she turned to Gypsy readings, a simpler and uncomplicated form of divination that creates readings that are more accessible to today's modern world.  The cards create a life map or "snapshot" of what is happening in the present and the possible outcomes for the future if a specific path is ignored or followed.  Meridith channels the energy from the client and it is reflected in the cards.  The picture they show are applied not only in the crucial life event problem but also in the everyday smaller issues that are equally important.  Although Meridith is first-generation born in America, her background is Mediterranean European with a ribbon of Romanian blood that led her to Transylvania where she visited her ancestors back in the 1980's.  That reconnection with the ancient land steeped in mystical history made her appreciate more the powerful forces of the Universe that guide our destiny.  Meridith's readings are 30-minutes with a donation of $30.00 per session.

Small Business Saturday!

November 30th

St. Andrew's Day is the feast day of Saint Andrew. It is celebrated on November 30th. Saint Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, and St. Andrew's Day (Scottish Gaelic: Latha Naomh Anndra) is Scotland's official national day. In 2006, the Scottish Parliament designated St. Andrew's Day as an official bank holiday. Although most commonly associated with Scotland, Saint Andrew is also the patron saint of Greece, Romania, Russia and the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. In Germany, the feast day is celebrated as Andreasnacht ("St. Andrew's Night"), in Austria with the custom of Andreasgebet ("St. Andrew's Prayer"), and in Poland as Andrzejki ("Andrews").

Yuletide Blessings

A new season is now upon us, bringing the glow of the holiday season with it.  The Winter Solstice this month heralds a time of light, the birth of the sun as the days slowly become brighter.  It marks the season of Yule, a time of new beginnings as we bid goodbye to quiet darkness and ready ourselves for another year of renewal.  I hope your holidays are merry and bright, and that you are able to embrace the quiet stillness of this season even when entrenched in its hectic magic.  As you catch a glimpse of the bright stars shining in the darkest of skies, feel their energy surround you.  May the peace of this most beautiful of seasons always be within you, bringing increasing faith and hope that far outshines any darkness.  And as we gaze up at a moon shining brightly in the stillness of the night, may we be filled with her quiet magic and peace.

Imbolc or Brigid’s Day

Imbolc (also Imbolg or Oimelc), or St Brigid’s Day (Scots Gaelic Là Fhèill Brìghde, Irish Lá Fhéile Bríde, the feast day of St. Brigid), is an Irish festival marking the beginning of spring, set on 1 February.

The festival was observed in Gaelic Ireland during the Middle Ages. Reference to Imbolc is made in Irish mythology, in the Tochmarc Emire of the Ulster Cycle.[1] Imbolc was one of the four cross-quarter days referred to in Irish mythology, the others being Beltane, Lughnasadh and Samhain.[2] It has been suggested that it was originally a pagan festival associated with the goddess Brigid, who was later Christianised as St. Brigid.

In the 20th century, Imbolc was resurrected as a religious festival in Neopaganism, specifically in Wicca, Neo-druidry and Celtic reconstructionism.

The staff of Fort Frederick State Park and the Friends of Fort Frederick are pleased to announce that we will host the annual 18th Century Market Fair April 26 - 29, 2018. Come to historic Fort Frederick, an original stone fort built in 1756 during the French and Indian War and travel back in time to an authentic 18th century market fair.  A whiff of campfires fills the air. Colorful entertainers are found strolling about the fair. See sutlers (period vendors) selling 18th century wares: pottery, tin and copper ware, clothing, material and patterns, books, fireplace and cooking hardware, muskets and accoutrements, paintings and prints, lanterns and other camp gear, etc.  See hundreds of fair-goers of all ages dressed in colonial clothing: artisans, soldiers, ladies & gentlemen, Native Americans, longhunters, traders, servants, etc.  Free entertainment for all.  The Fair is open to sutlers, traders, street vendors and entertainers as well as individuals, groups, military units and American Indians portraying the appropriate time period and geographic area, representing eastern North America from 1730 through 1790. The Fair is a juried event for camper and sutlers, but open daily to all visitors. Attending Market Fair is a wonderful way to increase ones knowledge of the period, particularly the French and Indian War period, and the role that historic Fort Frederick played in that conflict and in protecting the Maryland frontier in general. 179436685447011/about/
